Mounting with a steel cable is a classic of jewels made of hard stone. It represents one of the safest and most professional techniques for making necklaces and bracelets, it is suitable for many types of jewelery assembly and allows you to create necklaces even with large or heavy semi-precious stones precisely because it is resistant to breakage.

The steel cables for costume jewelery are composed of braided steel filaments covered with nylon. The number of strands shown on the spool indicates how many filaments the cable is made up of and therefore determines its flexibility: the higher the number, the finer the filaments that make up the wire will be, therefore the greater the flexibility and "softness" to the touch of the wire. We advise you to choose the diameter of the steel cable based on the type of components and beads you wish to use:

  • For small and light components we recommend using a diameter ranging from 0.24mm to 0.30mm.
  • For components of average weight and size we recommend using a diameter ranging from 0.35mm to 0.45mm.
  • For larger and heavier components we recommend using a diameter equal to or greater than 0.50mm.
